NEWS RELEASE June 13, 2008
Lt. Governor’s Art Council features
OLYMPIA – Distinctive
digital images by Olympia photographer W.D. "Nate" Naismith are now on
display in the Office of Lieutenant Governor Brad Owen in the state
Capitol.
Naismith, who has more than 45 years of
photographic experience, is known for his landscapes and
architectural images of the Capitol. On display are three views of
the Legislative Building, including one of the Capitol dome shrouded by
fog; the historic Olympia brewery building in Tumwater; the original
Capitol building, which is now the Office of the Superintendent of
Public Instruction, and three war memorials on the Capitol Campus.
"I'm fortunate to live in an area as rich
in natural beauty and culture as the Pacific Northwest," the former
legislative staffer says. "Each season offers experiences too few people
fully appreciate. I enjoy the meditative quality of anticipating a
sunrise and waiting for it to unfold."
In addition to landscapes and
architecture, Naismith has broad photographic interests that include
portraiture, botanical studies, abstracts, street and graffiti
photography and rock music. Two of his 1960s concert photos were
recently selected by Experience Hendrix LLC for its latest book, "Jimi
Hendrix - An Illustrated Experience." Several Olympia venues display Naismith's work. They include legislative offices, Plenty Restaurant and Newbury Bay Limited plus many private collectors. Additional samples of Naismith's photographic talent can be viewed on his Web site at www.farsightedimages.com.
The Office of the Lieutenant Governor is open to the public from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is located in Room 220 of the Legislative Building (State Capitol), 416 Sid Snyder Avenue S.W. in Olympia.
