NEWS RELEASE October 5, 2011
Photography by Linda
Barnfather, world traveler and legislative assistant, now on exhibit in
state Capitol
By day Linda Barnfather is
a legislative assistant to a Washington state representative, answering
phones and working on constituent issues. But almost any other time you
will find her in the fields and forests of the Olympic Peninsula, or in
distant lands around the world with camera in hand.
A collection of
Barnfather’s photography, both from overseas and from within Washington
state, will be on display in the Office of Lt. Governor Brad Owen
through December. Included
are scenes from Seattle’s Pike Place market, the Palouse, the Olympic
Peninsula, Mexico and India.
“I love living on the
Olympic Peninsula, but I do consider myself a citizen of the world,” the
Sequim resident said. “Travel and observation are truly a passion and
there is a constant craving for both.”
Barnfather is the
executive legislative assistant to state Rep. Kevin Van De Wege from the
24th District. She lives in a farm with her husband James and
a sheltie named Jordy.
Artists for the Lt.
Governor’s Art Council are nominated by a review of their works and
based on themes chosen by the council.
Exhibits are rotated
quarterly. The council is chaired by Linda Owen, wife of the lieutenant
governor. The Office of the Lieutenant Governor is open to the public
weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is located in Room 220 of the
Legislative Building (State Capitol), 416 Sid Snyder Avenue S.W. in
Olympia.
