Lt. Governor Discusses Education, Trade, and Economic Development with Consul of Spain

Lt. Governor Habib met with Honorary Consul of Spain Luis Fernando Friday to discuss shared priorities between Washington state and Spain. Their conversation centered primarily on advancing economic development in Washington state through foreign direct investment, global innovation exchanges, and trade opportunities with Spain.

Both committed proponents of quality education, Lt. Governor Habib and Hon. Consul Fernando discussed opportunities for partnership and cooperation in developing foreign exchange programs for students with limited financial means, as well as the importance of strengthening Spanish language education in Washington state, and English language education in Spain.

Finally, Lt. Governor Habib and Hon. Consul Fernando discussed issues faced by the Spanish-American community, and Hispanic communities at large in Washington state, and pledged closer cooperation in serving these communities together.
