On Sunday, Lt. Gov. Habib welcomed the crown prince and princess of Luxembourg, Prince Guillaume and Princess Stéphanie to Washington state, emphasizing Washington’s status as a trade-dependent state, and his commitment to strengthening international relationships.
The crown prince and princess traveled to Washington state with a delegation to commemorate the finalization of a business transaction between Luxembourg and Washington-based company Planetary Resources. The government of Luxembourg has invested 25 million Euros ($28 million USD) in the company to promote the shared goal of launching an asteroid mining prospectus mission by 2020.
The lieutenant governor praised the deal as an example of how strong international relationships can create a more prosperous Washington for all.
