Taiwanese Delegation Discusses Marine Studies, Academic Collaboration, and Industry Exploration with Lt. Governor

A delegation of officials from academic, environmental and trade organizations in Kaohsiung, Taiwan visited the Office of the Lt. Governor on Wednesday to talk about the sister city relationship between Seattle and Kaohsiung, the sister port relationship between the Port of Tacoma and the Kaohsiung port, and potential collaborations between the University of Washington and Taiwan’s National Sun Yat-sen University.

Officials representing National Sun Yat-sen University, the Taiwan Ocean Academia Industry Consortium, Taiwan Society of Ocean Engineering, and Taiwan International Ports Corporation stopped by as part of their official visit to the region, which began March 26 and is scheduled to end April 3.

Lt. Gov. Habib was honored to welcome the guests, especially as his office seeks to promote a culture of tolerance and inclusion, while further building academic, cultural, industrial connections between Kaohsiung and Seattle.
