Lt. Governor Habib Urges PCOs and Counties to Fill State Senate Vacancy Quickly

OLYMPIA— Lieutenant Governor Cyrus Habib issued the following statement today regarding the resignation of State Sen. Brian Dansel and actions necessary to fill his vacancy in the Washington State Senate:

“With Sen. Dansel’s resignation, there is currently one seat vacant in the Washington State Senate. I urge the Republican precinct committee officers of the 7th Legislative District and the Okanogan, Ferry, Pend Oreille, Stevens, and Spokane County Commissions to act quickly in filling this vacancy, so that the Senate can have its full complement of 49 members as soon as possible.

As the Senate’s presiding officer, I am committed to doing my part to help ensure a productive and collaborative legislative session. It is critical that the Senate continue momentum on its important work on the biennial budget, education funding, and other pressing issues without delay.”
